West Lothian Council consults on budget cuts
The upcoming savings round required by West Lothian Council is going to be the toughest one yet. At a time when we need the services the Council provides us with more than ever, they are being faced with almost impossible decisions over what to prioritise.
You can help to shape the next three years of funding priorities by filling in this important consultation. It will be sent to every household in West Lothian in paper form in October, but you can do it today online by following this link: https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/WL2028 This was already going to be a very difficult winter for many people, so if you do need help or advice, or just want to speak to someone about your concerns, then here are some organisations you can contact:
- The Citizens Advice Bureau - West Lothian Citizens Advice Bureau | Free, impartial and confidential advice (cabwestlothian.org.uk)
- The West Lothian Council Advice Shop - Advice Shop - West Lothian Council
- The Scottish Government Cost of Living Campaign - https://costofliving.campaign.gov.scot/
This crisis highlights the real life harm that years of underfunding local government has had, and the damaging consequences that we now face. But this isn't the time for playing party politics, and I hope we can all work together to get through this difficult time. Sally Pattle
