This year for International Women’s Day, Councillor Sally Pattle was invited by the Scottish Women’s Convention to represent the Scottish Liberal Democrats at their annual Holyrood event, along with 350 women from across the country. Speakers included the Rt Hon Baroness Harriet Harman, plus Daisy and Niamh from Our Ladies High School in Cumbernauld, who were simply inspirational in the way they connected with the audience.

Councillor Pattle joined a panel with Jackie Baillie MSP, Sue Webber MSP and Arianne Burgess MSP to discuss their journey into politics and how we can encourage more women to come forward.

She said of the event:

“It was a completely joyous afternoon celebrating and promoting women’s achievements from across Scotland. There was a lot of laughter, but also a recognition that although we’ve come so far there is still a lot of work to do to ensure full equality in politics and beyond.”
