Save the Low Port Centre

16 Apr 2021

Unless we take action now, Linlithgow’s much loved Low Port Centre will soon be a thing of the past. West Lothian Council is due to consider its future at a meeting on Tuesday 20th April, with the building likely to be deemed surplus to requirements and put up for sale.

The future of the outdoor activities centre has been in doubt since West Lothian Leisure announced in February that it would be ending its tenancy of the Council owned building. On top of this, the community groups that use the building have been told to find accommodation elsewhere – something that is in short supply.

This means the town is not only losing a well-used leisure facility, but could potentially lose the community groups as well.

We believe the site still has huge amounts of potential, whether that's as a continued base for outdoor education, or as a youth hostel or community centre. We also believe the Council’s lack of interest in doing anything at all is staggeringly short-sighted.

Without consultation, West Lothian Council is stripping Linlithgow of one of its most valued assets.
