Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
On behalf of the West Lothian Liberal Democrats, I’d like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the sad news of her death.
We will all miss Her Majesty, but there is much to celebrate in a life lived as well and long as the late Queen Elizabeth II. This is a time to come together and reflect on everything that Her Majesty did for our country: she was the embodiment of decency, dignity and a life dedicated to service.
For seventy years, Her Majesty was a constant presence in our lives. For many people, including myself, Queen Elizabeth II represents a link to people loved and lost and the grief we feel at her death has been deeply felt. We know that this will be a difficult time for many who are recently bereaved, or remembering loved ones, so our thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by this extraordinary event.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the death of Queen Elizabeth II is the end of an era. Constancy is a word that sums up perfectly Her Majesty’s reign and it’s how I will remember her – I am so grateful that she was our Queen and while we all look forward to the next chapter of our United Kingdom’s history with King Charles III, now is the time to look back and reflect on what has gone before by coming together and sharing our memories, and our grief.
